2019 Reading Wrap-up

“You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, All you need is a book.” – Dr Seuss.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what prompted me to read more. All through school and college it would take me ages to complete a book from cover to cover, and now I read several books a month. My goal is, however, to be able to finish reading a book in a day and I am confident that I will get there soon.

For now, here is a wrap-up of the books I read in 2019 and my favorite pick from among them.

Circe

by Madeline Miller

The story of a sorcerers in Greek mythology who gets exiled into an island for accidentally turning enemies into monsters. In Madeline Miller’s version, the age old myth is presented in a new light from Circe’s point of view focusing on her endeavors in the exiled island of Aiaia and her mastery in the art of herbal medicine and occult. As we go through the pages, Circe’s multifaceted evolving character becomes more and more evident, and the human emotions in the goddess becomes profound. This books will make you uncomfortable and delighted. Awkward and sad. This is my favorite pick from 2019.
